Fundraising Events That Empower Pasadena ISD Teachers and Students
The Pasadena ISD Education Foundation holds several fundraisers throughout the year with annual events like the McDonald’s Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament, Golf Classic tournament, Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame banquet, and the Shining Stars Gala. The money raised through these wonderful events helps to support teachers and students throughout the school district. Since the foundation’s birth in 2003, PISDEF has given out nearly $3 million in mini-grants.
Celebrating 23 Years of the
McDonald's Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament
November 19-21, 2026
The McDonald’s Texas Invitational Basketball Tournament (MTI) proudly marks its 23rd anniversary—a milestone representing more than two decades of elite competition, community engagement, and unwavering support for local education.
Behind this success is a dedicated 30-member steering committee comprised of leaders from business, education, and government who work year-round to ensure the tournament maintains its first-class reputation. The business community plays an integral role, contributing more than $250,000 annually to support the Pasadena ISD and Deer Park ISD Education Foundations. Additionally, nearly 400 volunteers from schools, businesses, and the community generously give their time to make the event possible.
The MTI is more than basketball—it is a celebration of community spirit and a powerful investment in education. Every net dollar raised is donated to the two local education foundations to fund teacher mini-grants that directly enhance classroom learning. To date, the tournament has contributed more than $3.7 million to support teachers and students, and following this year’s event, we aim to surpass $4 million.
Each year, the MTI grows stronger, and 2025 promises to be no exception. With record crowds anticipated, the tournament will once again showcase the very best of our community while helping local students reach their full potential.
